IOT Excited for Next Phase at DL&W Station

In conjunction with Ferguson Electric, Innovative Operations Technology is once again working closely with the Nigra Frontier Transportation Authority.  Additions and upgrades are planned at the new DL&W station in downtown Buffalo, New York.  The over one-hundred year old complex is getting new life with the re-installation of passenger rail station on the first floor in the once heavily used DL&W Terminal.  This station will serve as a new stop for NFTA customers seeking new retail and event venue’s.  The DL&W Buffalo Station was built in 1917 by the Delaware Lackawanna and Western Railroad where it served the local city for 62 Years.  The station was eventually closed in 1979 with the partial demolition of the waiting room, passenger concourse, and railroad offices.  In 1982, the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority (NFTA) then utilized the first floor as a maintenance facility to maintain their light rail commuter fleet.  In 2018, the NFTA selected Savarino Companies as a development partner to redevelop the upper level of the historic train shed structure.  Savarino’s vision is to bring a mix of public and private uses to the over 130,000 square foot second story of the structure.
